Mission

The Regenerative Lab helps form regenerative leaders, businesses, and society by providing insights, tools, and the expertise to create joint projects — bridging innovation and insights to a world of regeneration.

The Regenerative Labs exists to help leaders redesign business, governance, and technology so that people, planet, and profit can thrive together rather than compete. We convene decision-makers, practitioners, and researchers in "regenerative labs" and conferences to work on real systemic challenges: from climate and supply chains to governance, data, and risk, using practical tools, experimentation, and deep collaboration.

Our starting point is simple and radical: it is no longer enough to be "less unsustainable." We need models that restore, replenish, and regenerate in our ecosystems, our economies, and our institutions. That requires new kinds of leadership, new decision frameworks, and new partnerships between business, government, academia, and civil society.

The Regenerative Labs grew out of collaborations between European universities, practitioners in systems thinking and system dynamics, and business leaders who wanted a credible, practice-oriented space to explore "what comes after ESG" and "what comes after sustainability slideware."

Our work is grounded in evidence, system dynamics, and lived experience in boardrooms, ministries, courtrooms, ports, and value chains.

What we do

At The Regenerative Labs, we create structured spaces where people can work with complexity instead of fighting it or ignoring it.

Key activities include:

  1. Regenerative Labs (multi-stakeholder labs) — Focused labs where leaders from different sectors work on specific systemic challenges – such as regenerative value chains, climate risk and security, governance, trustworthy AI and governance, or water and infrastructure – over a defined period. Labs combine systems mapping, system dynamics modelling, case work, and leadership practice. Participants leave with concrete prototypes, decision frameworks, and relationships that continue beyond the lab.
  2. Conferences and special sessions — Curated gatherings that bring together "voices from the field": corporate leaders, regulators, judges, diplomats, system dynamicists, researchers, and entrepreneurs. The aim is not just inspiration but honest, technical, and political conversation on what it takes to shift systems – and how to move from pilots and policies to real regenerative outcomes.
  3. Regenerative Leadership Programs — Programs and cohorts for executives, public leaders, system stewards, and emerging leaders who want to deepen their capacity to lead in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. We integrate regenerative thinking, systems thinking, system dynamics, governance, and leadership development, with a strong emphasis on practice, peer learning, and experimentation.
  4. Decision support and GRC for complex systems — We explore and develop ways for organizations to use data, AI, and system dynamics to improve governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) – not as a checklist but as a strategic capability. This includes work on transparency, accountability, risk monitoring, scenario thinking, and early-warning signals in complex systems.

What we believe

A few commitments shape everything we do:

  1. From sustainability to regeneration — Sustainability has largely meant "doing less harm." Regeneration asks a different question: are our business models, policies, and investments actively restoring ecosystems, communities, and trust – or not? We work with leaders who are ready for this shift.
  2. Systems, not silos — Climate, inequality, supply chains, digital governance, and trust in institutions are not separate problems. They are entangled. We use systems thinking and system dynamics to see the whole and to understand feedback loops, unintended consequences, and leverage points.
  3. Human leadership in the age of AI — AI and data can be powerful tools for understanding systems and supporting decisions. But they can also amplify harm and erode trust. We focus on human-centred, ethics-informed use of AI and data – in business models, governance frameworks, and daily leadership practice.
  4. Many kinds of intelligence — Regenerative work requires technical intelligence, emotional intelligence, cultural intelligence, and often spiritual or ethical intelligence. We work with leaders who want to bring the full breadth of their knowledge and values into the room – not just their job title.
  5. Practice over perfection — Regeneration is a journey. We value experiments, learning, and honest reflection over polished narratives. Our labs and programs are designed so that participants leave with "the next few courageous steps," not just more concepts.
